SEMS screws are a kind of fastener that comes pre-assembled and combines a screw and a washer. "Screw and washer assemblies" is what the term "SEMS" stands for, and it came from the word "pre-assembled bolts." Bolts with pre-assembled washers are now more commonly referred to as SEM screws. A flat washer and a spring washer are included with every SEM screw assembly. These washers are put onto the bolts before the thread rolls, preventing them from coming loose during handling or assembly. In large-scale manufacturing and projects where efficiency is crucial, SEM screws are incredibly popular.
