Countersunk self-tapping undercut screws made of 304 stainless steel, often known as hinge screws, are part of our high-performance screw line. When screwed into thin to medium gauge steel, plastic, or wood, these Phillips No2 drive screws are made to drill and tap their own holes, producing precisely fitting threads. Instead of having a full taper, the countersunk head of self-tapping undercut screws is chopped away halfway to provide a flat bottom. This enables the screw to be flush with a thin metal plate that is countersunk, typically a bracket or hinge. The component may fit flush without bottoming out on the substrate thanks to the thinner head.
